From TrueNorth to Vegas — and an ER Detour in Between

August 18, 2025

Hi Friends,

I arrived at TrueNorth yesterday, and in just a few hours I’ll be giving the first of my six presentations. You can watch all of them — along with every other presenter’s talks — for free on TrueNorth TV.

(Just register for a free account. While you’re at it, I highly recommend Dr. Goldhamer’s Monday lectures at 2 PM Pacific — he’s always worth a listen!). You can ONLY watch LIVE as none of the presentations are recorded.

My TrueNorth Presentation Schedule:

  • Today, Sunday, August 17 at 10 AM PT – Eat Up, Slim Down and Get Healthy
  • Wednesday, August  20 at 2:30 PM PT – 7 Habits to Lose Weight and Finally Keep It Off for Good
  • Friday, August 22 at 10 AM PT – Cooking Demo with Chef Ramses Bravo
  • Saturday, August  23 at 10 AM PT – Cooking Demo
  • Saturday, August  23 at 2 PM PT – The 10 Commandments for Overcoming Your Weight Loss Obstacles
  • Sunday, August  24 at 10 AM PT – Cooking Demo

I won’t be fasting this time (to water fast you have to be on complete rest), but I am looking forward to eating all the delicious SOS-free food they serve here and catching up with friends.

A Plot Twist Before My Trip

Last week was fairly quiet… until an unexpected trip to the ER. Normally my anxiety talks me out of going, but this time the chest pain was different — sharper, worse with a deep breath, and paired with shortness of breath when lying down.

Thankfully, I was in and out in just four hours, and they ran everything: complete cardiac workup, another chest CT, you name it. As anxious as I get in hospitals, I didn’t panic — and being assigned Room 18 sealed the deal. (My Jewish friends will understand why that’s a lucky sign.)

To top it off, the ER doctor was vegan and the chaplain was a Nutritarian. What are the odds?

The results? All tests were normal. The culprit: costochondritis — an inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs and breastbone — treated with IV steroids. Believe it or not, this can be a side effect of my immunotherapy, Keytruda… the gift that keeps on giving.

The Best News of All

Despite the hiccup, my thoracic oncologist says I’m STABLE — and there might even be slight improvement. Neither the tumor nor the metastasis has grown, and I’ll take that as a big win.

We’re delaying my next Keytruda round until after the Vegas Conference and Cancer Camp. I’ll restart on Sept. 23, this time dosed by weight to (hopefully) minimize side effects.  What’s interesting in that it was on September 23, 2022 ( 3 years ago) that the pulmonary nodules were first discovered.  And I’m still here!!!

If you’ve ever had costochondritis, I’d love to hear how you managed the pain — especially since I’m allergic to aspirin and NSAIDs.

Our health really is our greatest wealth, and it’s easy to forget that until it’s tested. I’m deeply grateful for your support, and I can’t wait to see some of you in Las Vegas next week!

Love & Kale, Chef AJ.
